4K Screenshot achieved on PSO v2

4K

PSO v2 is full of peculiarities with the increased resolution options, but the more you raise the resolution, less and less things work properly, once the res surpassed my monitor, fullscreen stops working alongside with the printscreen function (this due to the fact the function was meant for fullscreen, in window mode screenshots on backup folder will be messed up). If you go higher, screenshots can’t be taken with fraps and sadly no other program that i have found fixes this, fraps seems to be the only program that takes a screenshot at the resolution of the game itself, it’s not a cheap screen capture. If you go higher things such as ENB series can’t be activated and will cause the same issue as the screenshot, game will crash.

The game stops working entirely once the resolution reaches certain points, while i have once tried 10x the resolution of the game (6400 x 4800) just like many of the resolutions before hand, there is no way I can show you that the game was running at that res and the best I could was a desktop screenshot with the game running in window mode.

The limitation seemed to be on the 2560×1600 resolution, that is indeed the max resolution of my old graphics card, but it could also be a limitation of fraps, DirectX, drivers, OS, PSO and many other things.
Only one way to find out.

I asked on the Ephinea forums and i was lucky to find out someone who has access to more recent hardware, i mean if some games can run at 4K, then why not PSO, I’m not saying PSO is going to be 4k worthy, particles aren’t centered and many other things don’t work properly, the alpha version that i released so that players could see for themselves is no different to the version i made available to a member on Ephinea, only the res and the FOV are different, what is broken remains broken, the UI with your HP values become so small you can’t probably even see them properly.

Shichimiya was the person that offered help, i gave tools and a custom exe with the res 3840 x 2160 , minor complain here, i wish there was an easier way to download PSO v2 for pc besides a goddamn torrent file that no one seeds (i didn’t even bother) and while there is one (ty for that) it’s one with some mods included, namely the Portuguese translation.

From here it was entirely her own doing, she was in control and she took the screenshots, yes they were taken, that is something i could not do on my system and it’s quite interesting to see what will other users do.

The images have different graphical settings, there are no skins and there isn’t any bloom, so yes the image looks different from what i usually take, still Shichimiya used some of the tools, namely she warped to other areas and even removed the hud, that’s pretty good.

Credits to her as she took the highest resolution PSO screenshots to date, here’s one to demonstrate the achievement. Nothing similar is around.

9299702410421207040_20160422200344_1

If you wish to do the same then i have a small zip file and it contains launchers, patchers, trainers and the same PSO exe file i used, you can do it on your own, warp, change camera, patch the game (including patching for fullscreen and window mode) and play PSO, however in this res only your system will tell if it works or not.

Note: Unlike many popular games for popular platforms (PS4 Pro and Xbox One S), PSO does not cheat in order to play at 4k, the framerate will still be 30 fps at the most and the pixel rendering has no upscaling or no chessboard rendering (meaning it renders half the pixels and guesses the rest), so this is demanding on a graphical level.

Eden’s Launcher

EDEN title

Recently Tofuman has done something pretty interesting, by now if you’re still a PSO BB player then you know widescreen and bigger resolutions have been attempted, but, things are never perfect, if you have tried widescreen then you know bubble chats and text become wider, that and some of the interface might become stretched.

Tofuman made a launcher for eden server (a server that I personally recommend) but added a few new options, including not only widescreen support (16:10 and 16:9) and higher resolutions (up to 2560×1600) but also a “high-definition hud” option.

This option makes the hud smaller and at the same time arranges it so that it looks well placed in the new resolution you picked, this improves the game in several areas:

  •  dds compression becomes less visible, if you have ever made a hud for PSO BB then you know you can’t use the .xvr compression, so you use .dds, but the compression can only be avoided on very simple huds, the more complex it is the more detail is lost, making the hud smaller makes these aspects less visible and in no way affects the overall quality of the interface.
  •  more visible area, let’s the honest, the interface for PSO BB is way to big, making it smaller makes you able to see your surroundings better because you don’t have the hud in the way.

eden 1

  •  Game visual quality improves, while in no way you use something with better quality, the game visually gets better, nearly everything seems to be placed exactly where you wanted

eden 2

  •  Unexpected things are improved, the change log at the patch server for example, you can read more info than before without scrolling, i was happily surprised to see this.

eden 3

Tofuman was also spot on the dimension of the hud as making it to tiny makes the interface worthless, how can you see how much health you have when the numbers and the green bar are so small? Here that was taken into account so that it’s small but not too small to the point were it becomes uncomfortable. A very nice touch indeed.

Is it perfect? No, the launcher will make changes to the game exe before it is launched and it was made so that it covers the majority of the interface, but not all of it has been addressed, char creation or char selection screen are examples where the interface hasn’t been tweaked to compensate the extra space, the hud decreased in size but it’s still stuck in a corner in a very similar way compared to PSO v2.
Still it’s nothing that ruins the main experience of the game and the launcher has been receiving updates to address small elements that were missed, so it’s a work in progress. If you find an element that is in an incorrect place, then contact tofuman at eden serv forum and maybe he will fix it in the next launcher update.

Before proceeding to the topic to download the launcher, make sure you understand 2 things:

  • The launcher topic is on eden server forums, you can only view the topic if you are a member at the forums, if you don’t have an account, make one.
  • The launcher works with Eden’s PSO exes, it’s something made to work at EDEN server, it’s an addition to the community itself that plays the game on the server, i don’t know if it can be used elsewhere. If it doesn’t work with another server or with other exes then you know the reason.

You can find the Launcher topic here: http://forum.edenserv.net//viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3651
The topic contains information that you should check, including installation, download and what resolutions will triger the hud arrangement.

As for PSO v2, the game works in a very different way, after all it was made with 1 single resolution in mind and changing dynamically the positions of the hud elements depending on the resolution is something that might not be possible in PSO v2.

PSO 2 Menu sounds title

I guess this is simple, i recorded a few sounds on PSO2 and made them available for PSOv2, if you have better sounds or if you have any suggestions on the sounds i should use then just post a comment. I believe i used the correct sounds for the interface.

Regarding easter i do have an old blog post about it, it contained a nice rappy model that was introduced in later games, but the link is outdated and i never tought i would do more changes to the gsl files, so in short there are 3 files, 2 gsl files that cover forest 1 and forest 2 respectively on the 1st 3 difficulties and the model itself incase you want ultimate rappies changed.
This is an old graphical mod and does not change names, stats or behavior of rappies, they simply look like the egg rappies.

Credits:
– Kra

Installation:
– By copying
If you do not desire to mess with the gsl files and want just a copy and paste procedure then use the file in the download section.
Select the gsl files and the bml file, replace the files in X:\xxxxxxxxxx\SEGA\PhantasyStarOnline\Media\PSO

If you have other mods, like the blood mod or the pso2 rappy mod (contains a rare rappy skin), then this will erase those mods, if you want manual changes then use the bml included in this download and update the gsl files manually.
Keep in mind that manual installation will change normal, hard and vhard rappies, for the ultimate rappies simply drop the bml in the X:\xxxxxxxxxx\SEGA\PhantasyStarOnline\Media\PSO

– Manual
You need a GSL updater: http://psodev.free.fr/outilPSO/GSL/GSLUpdater.rar
You need the normal-vhard bml file: http://universps.online.fr/pso/bb/skin/telechargement.php5?l=744&t=d
You need the ultimate bml file: http://universps.online.fr/pso/bb/skin/telechargement.php5?l=745&t=d

Open the program and locate the GSL files in the pso directory (gsl_forest01.gsl and gsl_forest02.gsl)
X:\xxxxxxxxxx\SEGA\PhantasyStarOnline\Media\PSO

Locate the files and make sure they are not as read only

Start by opening one of them “file > open”, you will see a list of files that these GSL files have, locate and select “bm_ene_lappy.bml”
Select “Content” and then “import”
Grab the file you downloaded
Select “File” and then “save” with the same name
Repeat the process for gsl_forest02.gsl

Download: (this one only requires you to paste the files in the correct directory, the gsl file updates were already made by me)

trainers tool patchersEvery now and then i receive requests to certain tools and modifications and i find that fine because the files aren’t available anymore and ppl need it for many reasons.

The problem in making them available is the fact that some mods have caused problems with legit players, the blame is shared in some cases, mods such as “altered drop rates”, “altered item stats”, “altered enemy stats”, “altered char stats”, are often advertised as mods but they do not give any info on how they will impact players that respect original gameplay, on the other hand players do not give any info on what mods they use or benefited.
Other things can be included, from custom quests with custom items or enemy waves that surpass any reasonable amount.

In other words, PSO players are generally irresponsible when using mods, they do not tell, they do not care, what i see is that instead of one adapting to original gameplay (to play with legit players) they often force others into accepting him, the more mods they use, the more they will request others to use it since it’s “standard” to use them, this often causes problems even between non legit players because they may cheat here and there, but they do not want those who cheat more than them, in some cases players simply leave the game and then the non legit player leaves as well, so in some cases they do it because they need to be “praised”, whether it’s for the rares they found or for what they can do.
Since most lack knowledge and common sense, they end up making a mistake and then they will be called cheaters, liars and illegit players, there are several outcomes, the user may disappear, he may cheat even more and not care but in many of the cases they do not want to cause problems, so they lie once and then they play with other players that accept it,  sort of  “live and learn”.

There are a few exceptions, neoblast case is a fine example, with lying once but for extended periods of time and when he tough everything was fine he decided to lie again on the same subject.
He never went far, as far as i recall no changes to the legit checker at sylverant were made, so none of the 3 admins received any suggestions from neoblast, even if they did, they wouldn’t be accepted, Impulse may like neoblast, but he ain’t that stupid and neither are the other 2 admins.

Nonetheless i think it’s time to release the trainers, not because i expect everyone to be responsible, but mainly because they are disappearing and the requests for them keep increasing. (in some cases it’s for some really trivial stuff)
I have ways of avoiding non legit players, not playing is one of them, playing in the “royal trux” teams is another (if you know the password that is).

Now for some extra info, how do you behave when playing with others?
If you play on sylverant and if you use stuff that bypasses the checkers but are still considered non legit (bank created items, really high % drop rates) then Bluecrab recommends that you announce that you are using them or that you used them, this recommendation was sended to me via pm when i asked why certain  drop mods are allowed while other drop mods are not, they all fit into the category of legit as they bypass any sort of checker.
Why some mods were taken into account while others were not? I don’t know, they know about them, i even mentioned them.
One person once said that some decisions were “biased”, in this subject that is very clear. ( i cannot find the topic, maybe it was deleted)

Moving on, as for the accuracy of the statements, it’s problematic, the message with the recommendation was sended to me via pm, meaning there isn’t any public notification about this, this means that you can either believe what i said or you can ignore it, any decision is valid really, you may not trust me, you may trust me, you may trust bluecrab or you may not trust bluecrab.
Why would you not trust bluecrab? Well, the last time i received a PM that information ended up being for me, because other users received a tad different information, this lead to some awkward harassment accusations and in the end bluecrab was the blame, yet and since i was a GM at the time i decided to send an apology to Faithy, a person who i do not like but who i still think deserved an apology from the incident, as for bluecrab, no apology was sent, i for example, never received one.

It’s one of the main reasons why ppl come to me for advice, even as a non GM ppl still talk to me about any PSO subject, they know i won’t censure them and they know they will get accurate information, in some cases they avoid the staff at sylverant, any info that comes out of them usually makes some players “twist their noses” .

So, about the trainers, best i can do is to provide as much information i can and then let the user decide on what to do with them, it’s similar to a legitimacy discussion, all options are valid but it’s up to you to pick a path, you do get some info on what might happen if you pick one path or another, so that makes players aware, increasing the probability of correct usage of these trainers.

Please be responsible, do not use them and call yourself legit if you benefit from them (or any mod for that matter), these tools can be useful for skin testing, movies and other fun alterations, feel free to explore and see all the items you want, all the areas, twist the game in any way you want, but be aware of other players in the game, do not act like an idiot and do not lie about your gear, if it helps, create another char just for that.
Trying to create a dreamcast mag with 3 phonton blasts and then calling it legit because you fed it “correctly” only makes you look bad. Having an unobtainable and then saying it “dropped” will also make you look bad.

Make sure you disable your antivirus, many of these will cause false positives, remember that i do not release infected tools of any kind, they do not steal your data, they do not connect online and they do not harm your computer, they may harm however the PSO.exe, so make sure to back up it 1st incase you are unable to revert back, not every patcher may have a unpatcher.

Bankmod: A popular trainer created by gatene, has lot’s of documentation, tutorials and info, allows you to make any item in the game + new ones by just using the bank.
Open pso, talk to bank lady, open the bankmod and then create the items you want.

Muse trainers: random and funny trainers made by muse, they do not harm anyone, but they change game content, tools are varied, from item creation to warps and model changing.

Patchers: they patch the game with some cheats, like no weapon drop, area unlock (affects all chars), equip items in town,…..
They may have unpatchers to revert the alteration.

Health editor: easy way to change your health ingame.

Goten trainer: contains warp cheats, item creation, npc changer, pionner event changer and other things that can be applied when playing.

PGowns & PG Owns: one is the loader, the other the actual trainer, contains some useful stuff like changing where you are now (char creation, go online or offline without closing the game, go to credits, go to difficulty selection,…)You can warp, change npc, change arrow in lobby (if selected, not selecting an arrow will make pso crash), you can view guild cards (once, after that, trainer doesn’t display them properly), trainer also has the nasty habit of making your techs break (makes them uncastable), so you may need to close pso and the trainer to fix this. You can change c mode rank, if you like to go manual then i included a cmode name calculator.
Char level changes the level but not the stats.
Some changes need you to reload in the area to take effect, like reload in the lobby.

Wmccheat: contains patchers, info, unpatchers and source of many alterations you can make, popular ones are “walk trough walls”, “infinite tp”, “god of equip” (you can equip anything at any level), “furious techs” (you cast much faster), “add more rares” (makes rares drop like candy, it’s not 100% drop rate, but it’s close enough, can be combined with drop mods)

KINGARsTHURsTHINGV62KOTRT_SPECIAL: a nice trainer with lot’s of tools, from warps, char edits, camera manipulation, bank items edits,….

InFaMoUsZeRoZAnDwIcCaNIVVIZTrainer:  Mostly warp teleports and npc changing

HIPOPO’s Mega Trainer: a very flashy and slow trainer that anounces ingame when you turn it on, has a few tools with descriptions to what they do, nice trainer but way to flashy.

Why would you need these? well, if you change the credits frequently like i did, then it might be better to just select a difficulty and then go there directly, beating ultimate may take hundreds of hours, are you going to play that much to test a skin? Let’s say i want to test a skin on a holy ray, am i going to hunt one? no, i make one and i test it.
Combinations of certain tools can provide unique effects like the ones you see here, but if you are downloading then probably you won’t use them for these things, go on, go make your double cannon 😉
Respect other players, if they do not play with you, do not complain.

Credits Editor by Tofuman

creditor

Back when i did some credits edits i only cared for the visual part like the background or the images displayed, but in order to do something special for a friend i tought of changing the actual credit text, easier said then done, i didn’t knew how did the credits behaved so a trivial edit was more difficult than it seemed.I asked for help and Tofuman explained to me how credits worked and what was required to make them work and function properly, problem was that it required time even for the most simple of edits, something wrong would in the worst situation lead to a crash, in wich required you to look everything once more.

To simplify the hard part, tofuman created a text editor that is able to pick up the credits file and display it in a much simple way, it also enables you to save the file so it will work with PSO, you can use this for many different ends.

Before you download and go straight to edit titles and names there are a few things to have in mind, and some of them aren’t easy to detect:

Regular text is a title, this means it uses nearly all the possible characters, i can’t say you can use them all but the majority of the font can be used, it uses the file texttex_e.pvm, in my case it uses this font

font1p

Names are introduced by inserting “#” before the name, the name can only accept caps and a few other characters, numbers for example are limited to “0,1,2” as they are the only ones necessary to represent the year 2000 and 2001, if you want to add the number 3 to represent 2013 then you need to replace another character like the “,” in the texture file and then type “201,” in the editor
The file it uses is the ed128_font.prs

font2n

At the end of the file you will find a “*”, this determines when the credits end and will select the last 8 lines (blank spaces included) that will be displayed at the end, no further text will appear.
Keep in mind that the ending has 2 parts, one with the red ring spinning and another one with a sequence of images, you can never end the credits before the 2nd part, only when the 2nd part has begun can you end the credits, you can end the credits at anytime and even before the transition, but once the 2nd part begins then you will see 1 image at most, after that the credits will fade into black.

Last but not least is a character in the middle of the credits, this character cannot be removed otherwise the credits crash, so make sure to include it somewhere in the credits, it will not appear as text, it just needs to be in the editor. To find the character, go to “system r&d dept.” section and check the name “#YUKI■@YAMANAKA”
The symbol is the square looking one, you can delete the “@” and the rest of the name, but leave the “■”
If you delete and you are unable to revert back then reload the file and start over, the other option is to add the symbol’s hex code in the credits, wich will most likely alter many other things wich will also need to be checked manually, defeating the purpose of the editor and raising the chances of mistakes wich will lead to crashes.

I haven’t tested all the possibilities like using numbers, not using the “*” at the end, how long can the credits last, can we add more images to the ending,…..
Any Bugs you may find please contact tofuman at PSO eden server or contact me if you are unable to contact him, i will point him any bugs anyone finds.

The download also contains the original PSO v2 ending credits, any problem and you can just switch back.

Occasionally i get questions and issues regarding a v2 hud, on how you make it, how to increase the quality, why do you increase the quality and so on.
Most problems seem to be related with the guides wich give a general import&export example that do not fit v2 characteristics, there are problems with each step you take, making you search for answers that you may never find.
In one particular case regarding another PSO v2 hud the user told that he had to swap headers in order to make the PVR, while it can be made it certainly takes time and grasp on how to do that, it’s no wonder the hud is….well…..the default pso v2 hud but with transparency, meaning more complex huds, more files, more saving, more testing, all that takes time.
I know lot’s of ppl have good ideas, but they don’t have a grasp on how to import the creation they did into PSO v2, that may be the cause of why we rarely see v2 skins, or better yet v2 skins that use PVR as the image extension.

The creation is the most important process, in order to make your hud you need a base, something you can see over and over for dimensions and particular locations of hud components.
If you try to export the v2 hud directly from f256_hyouji.prs (located in SEGA\PhantasyStarOnline\Media\PSO) you will get a black and blue image, it requires the pallet, to save that trouble, here’s several hud images wich you can use.
http://www.2shared.com/file/PofRoDft/default_pso_v2_hud.html

Start by opening the images in Photoshop, don’t worry, they are in png format and you can view them.
Personally i always like to make a new project in wich i copy the image into that new project, you can also add a black or maybe a neutral color layer so you can clearly view the content you do later on.

I added a new hud text as a new layer to demonstrate what needs to be done

hudtut1

From there it’s up to you to create anything you need, since you have the original hud you will be able to place the several components correctly, you could also use my hud as a base, but i use a lot of gradients so it may not become clear as to where the limits are, v2 default hud with all those sharp edges should be all you need.

In the end you should have something like this

hudtut2

From here all you need is to save, you have 2 options, you have DDS and PVR. Before you do actual image saving, simply save your project (.psd) and close Photoshop.

DDS is pretty straight forward, what you see is what you get, to save as DDS you need the Nvidia plugin wich you can get here: http://developer.nvidia.com/content/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop
Make sure you download the one you need and that you have a compatible Photoshop.

Open your project in Photoshop and save, select the new file type (DDS) and a menu should pop up, in the case of a hud wich has different values of transparency a type of dxt3 should be selected. Do not use mipmaps.
The final selection should look like this:

hudtut3

Once done simply open your favorite importing tool, i use VMT in this case, nonetheless you should test in-game after you import to confirm.
So open up VMT, select “f256_hyouji.prs” and you will see several images, select the one you desire and then go to image > import, select the DDS file you created and if a menu pops up simply select that it’s a dc/pc texture and select “no transparency”

Now you select “file > save as”  and then you select that you want a PC file named f256_hyouji.prs (do not forget the .prs extension at the end), feel free to replace the original if you want and test in-game the results.

If you have a good eye you will probably notice that DDS created problems, your image is not 100% equal to the project you had, the compression happens when in each 4×4 segment (16 pixels) there is more than 4 colors, DDS will compress and mix colors if it finds 5 to 16 colors.
Here’s an example, inside the red hexagon corners a dark square appears, also the health bar repeats this compression.

imagecqm

DDS was made for smooth color transitions, but the hud is so small and detailed that DDS simply fails to deliver the quality we need, so we move to PVR wich as made for detail but not for smooth color transitions, it also compresses the images but the quality is better than DDS.

1st grab the PVR plugin for Photoshop, you can install it by placing it in the plugins file extension folder inside Photoshop install directory.
http://www.2shared.com/file/BAzrrb_t/pvrtex.html

This file type requires more work, while DDS plugin is automatic, this one is not and so you have to build 1 opaque layer for RGB and 1 layer for alpha.
Grab your project and add a neutral color of your choice to fill all the texture, if you skip this part PVR will fill it with white by default, wich will cause several hud components to look brighter and may make them barely visible
Here’s what i did as an example

hudtut4

For the alpha, that one you need 1st to do a DDS, make one using the steps above but without the color fill you did in the last step, once done open your DDS image in Photoshop and go to layers, select and copy the alpha layer into your project.
I show here where the alpha is located in the DDS

hudtut5

On your project if you find that you don’t have an alpha layer then add one, by default it will be black but once you paste the new image you will have completed the requisites to save a PVR.
Save your project as a PVR and a menu should pop up, it basically asks you how many bits are going to be used for the several layers of the hud, more means better but in this case you need bits for the alpha so there is only one option and that is ARGB 4444 (meaning it’s 4 bits for each layer), set type as AUTO, pixel format as the one described and mipmap off.

hudtut6

For other textures, BMP, DDS and even PVR with other pixel formats may work, if you make your hud with 100% opaque and 100% transparent areas then you can use other formats such as ARGB 1555, it’s up to you to decide wich one you actually require and if PVR is even necessary.

That done, simply click OK and then import your texture like you did with the DDS image, save the file as a PC file named f256_hyouji.prs (again, do not forget the file extension), swap the original used by the game and test.
You might notice some darker or lighter hud components, if that is verified, try to use other colors to fill the transparent areas when creating a PVR, you may need combinations of dark and bright colors to make things look exactly the same as the DDS creation, may take one or 2 changes but in most cases a dark color will be sufficient.
Hope this guide helps, if you have a doubt, don’t be afraid to ask.

I updated the blog in a few ways:

  • Title and description to improve its notability on the web, no big deal but gives users some info on what the blog is about
  • Updated links, there was one dreamcast talk link wich took me some time to find out, i didn’t know where it was located and the link pointed to a download section of the website (wich requires log in) and i couldn’t see it because i no longer have an account there, but eventually i found out the subject and updated the link to ragol.co.uk, now you can check the effects and particles download on ragol.co.uk without registering.
I also updated other random links wich i try to do from time to time, if you find a broken link then drop a comment or a message so i can fix it.
  • Improved english, i updated the posts with a more accurate and correct english
  • Added images “alt” to make them more noticeable on the web, it’s like a description for the image.
  • New logo (“K”)
  • By default wordpress comments required approval and i could even add a wordpress registration so you could comment, however the spam detection is good and i never felt the need to enforce those things, so the comments can be posted without registration and are automatic.
However, this has been like this for quite some time and some ppl abuse it, keep in mind that while giving fake info may hide who you are, the comment is deleted afterwards by me, i’m not going to change the system as there are only a few haters, it’s a problem i can deal with and the results are obvious, those ppl do not post here anymore, not because they can’t, but simply because what they post is deleted afterwards.
  • Changed the background

These and more changes are beeing done as we speak, so you have an idea on how i can improve the blog, let me know.

———————————————————————————

A new video i uploaded, contains random team gameplay in forest and in a ruins quest, contains many if not all of the visual modifications i use, keep in mind that i do not use mods and so this is the actual PSO v2 game.

Tools and Trainers + Video

Tools trainers

I made a public poll available for some time now, if you noticed, no results were being displayed and i also took steps to avoid double voting, this way you never really knew if the vote was being accepted or not.

Votes came naturally and i’m here to release the non game breaking trainers, this doesn’t mean i won’t release the rest, i may or may not release the rest, it’s related with some attitudes really, take for example a patch wich alters the drop rates calculation, making things far easy to find (but not 100%) with any drop modifications, can you imagine tiny neoblasts running around saying they had a legitimate dreamcast mag thanks to the “effort of playing areas countless times”, not only that, since the items would drop occasionally they would be backed up by carefull made movies, screenshots and even reports from other players, the worst part would be that you wouldn’t be able to prove otherwise because as a regular drop this is stupidity resistant, even the dumbest players would be able to affirm that the items are ok.

While the credibility of neoblast is zero, other players and new players would take advantage of this.
On sylverant you need to advertise you are using these mods, but that wouldn’t stop players from using offline and like i said it’s stupidity resistant, so you wouldn’t have red rings or dreamcast mags with 3 pbs (like the one neoblast “hunted”)

That makes me hesitant into releasing such tools, you can ask them at any time privately and i will gladly send them, but similar with the comments and the public pool if you need to speak or say something then you will be hesitant, if it’s public then you will download (no one asked me for trainers, but, there was a significant amount of votes in the pool, meaning they want them but they don’t want to show their face)

So for now i’ll just release these simple trainers, keep in mind that for more advanced screenshots you may require other tools, if you want to take screenshots in ruins 3 then you can either warp directly or beat the 1st 2 areas, it’s just a matter of flexibility.
Are there more simple tools like the ones i’m releasing now? yes, but they are integrated with more advanced trainers and while many trainers do the same thing, it’s often that you see unique features into each one.
These tools are safe to be used, if your antivirus says something then it will be a false positive, i do not release infected programs of any kind, you can do what i do wich is to ignore a folder with these trainers.

Some of these tools need to be in the same directory of pso.exe otherwise no patching will be done, in these cases backup pso.exe if you ever want to revert to the original.

Note: These tools are for PSO v2 for pc only

Trainers and functions: (Updated)

  • V1 Name Detection Patch – Patches your game so that v1 players name becomes white
  • GC PSO Detection Patch – Patches your game so that GC players name becomes white
  • Thingy o_O – enables and disables lobby restrictions (you can’t attack in lobby for example, but you can combo if the restriction are off), may cause your char to be semi-transparent to others, may cause other players to become invisible (name in lobby still becomes visible however), may cause game to crash if you use certain moves (like casting rafoie in the lobby), may be combined with “view equipped items” (if you have it) to make other players armor visible in the lobby, Armor visual effects will stack if used repeatedly. Does not cause any harm to anyone.
  • Lobby name trainer – changes the location of names in the lobby, not that useful
  • NPC trainer – changes your char to an npc of your choice (sonic, rico, …) i do not know if the effect is permanent (meaning i do not know if you will retain the appearance after restarting the game)
  • Lobby skin changer – in theory changes the lobby appearance to other lobbies, i didn’t notice any difference, feel free to try out, maybe it works for you.
  • Colour name patcher – patches the game so that default name color changes to another color (not sure as i can’t see any difference)
  • big skinny – patches the game so you can create chars with any proportion, proportions above or bellow normal are not visible by others, proportions bellow or above normal may cause the char to look unnatural, chars can be made so they grow into the ground, if you manage to remove the shadow texture then your char will be invisible in most cases, irregular proportions may cause gameplay difficult (view may be blocked, weapon may be to far up or down)
  • PSOv2 hud removal – while playing press F1 to remove hud and map and F2 to restore them. Menus may not be accessible if hud is hidden
  • Camera trainer – Has 10 different cameras that you can use, camera 8 is the normal one you see while playing, however in some quests the camera may change, if the tool is still open then you won’t have the same camera as other players, you need to close the trainer for the camera to return to normal. One camera (don’t know wich) may be used to lock a specific view, but i have no idea how it works. Camera 4 is one of the most usefull ones, this camera can be changed, press left key (must be pressed at all times) to enable camera manipulation, from there you can use numpad 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9 for directions, left ctrl and numpad 0 (zero) will change the zoom, since both the left key and numpad are used to control your char you will control 2 things at the same time. Cameras can be used even in credits or char selection screen, however, some cameras will cause the game to crash in these locations, the 10 only work when playing in a in-game area like a lobby or forest.
  • PSO Online.Offline – A simple launcher that can make you play online or offline, there is no publicity to websites and contains no patches of any kind that alter gameplay, 2 buttons, 2 functions, simple as that. Allows for multiple windows to be launched, however controlling 2 or more chars is difficult.
  • Guild Card Data – Allows you to view name, lvl and guildcard number of chars in the lobby and in the game.

————————————————————————————

I recently recorded a gameplay video just for fun, demonstrates a few skins and changes i made to my game, the gameplay remains the same but i made changes in the visual aspect of the game, meaning you can still have fun with the game without altering the gameplay.

If you want me to record a video with you, just say it, i sometimes get problems with fraps and bloom, but in some cases i can play normally and record things for long periods of time.

For cmode i won’t record as i don’t want to risk anything, but for a normal game (non quest) i will try and record, if i crash then i will quit, rejoin the game and i’ll take screenshots instead.
I usually take screenshots in party games, but why not make a movie instead?
Note: i only play legit gameplay, game set to legit has nothing to do with it, if you play legit then i’ll play, if not then i will leave. In some cases me leaving the game causes everyone to leave the game.
